First of all let us properly introduce natural language processing and what do we mean by it:
NLP is how computers deal with mainly textual data (human language) to produce knowledge or to drive insights out of this data.
NLP falls under the umbrella of Artificial Intelligence (AI) — defined in Oxford dictionary as computers that are able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.
And as I mentioned in my “Natural Language Processing (NLP) in Python — Simplified” article:
- Natural → for people; humans (humanly).
- Natural Language → a communication mean by humans like the English Language or Arabic or German. These are human languages that naturally evolved over the years and are used for interactions among humans. Unlike Programming Languages like Java or Python which are used for communication between humans and computers (machines).
- Natural Language Processing → processing is a term that is commonly used when we talk about computers which is basically the way a computer performs certain jobs/tasks.
